How Do I Budget Thee? (Part 4 of Organized-Me Series)

Hi everyone! Sorry I wasn’t able to blog for a long time. I got preoccupied with a lot of stuff. Man, I missed blogging so much!

My previous blog featured the finance apps I use to track my budget. Haven’t read it yet? It’s right here. This blog is kinda like a sequel to it because it’s about finance management too. If the last blog showed what finance apps I use to track my cash flow, this time I’ll be featuring the items I use to organize the actual cash and receipts.

I saw this item as I was browsing thru the October 2012 issue of Cosmopolitan PH (the magazine features articles about good buys and women empowerment, nice!). Thank goodness I found these!  I was really looking for something to organize my cash so it’s good timing when I read this:

Now I organize my money/monthly budget using Beabi Receipt Organizers.

I highly recommend these if you’re looking for something to organize your monthly budget. The Beabi Receipt Organizer is available in two sizes, small and large, and available in different colors. As you can see I have both, 1 small in pink and 1 large in red.

I use the small one to organize my monthly budget. To make it more neat and easy to sort, I printed some tags to label my expenses and had them laminated (so the paper tags won’t tear) and placed one inside each designated budget and money intended for it, see below pic:

The large receipt organizer, on the other hand, is used to store important receipts, like from gadget purchases with existing warranty, deposit slips, and the like. If you don’t like to fold your bills you can also use the large receipt organizer to store your money, like the one shown in the magazine page.

If you want your own Beabi Receipt Organizer just visit their website and order. I got my mine by ordering there and paying it by credit card. No credit card? No problem! They have other payment modes like paying via gcash or bank deposit. The staff is very accommodating and they sure ship fast! Visit their site too so you can browse over a lot of items that may help you organize your stuff, like TSA cases, bag organizers, smart wallets, and many, many more!

Not only do I organize my money and budget, I also keep my receipts so I can keep track of my spending. I store my receipts here:

I bought this at our local Gaisano Mall, in the school supplies section at less than Php 50.00. Not bad. What I love about it is that it has 12 sections so I can organize my receipts by month.

(P.S. Those are not my hands, that’s my boyfriend’s. Thanks for helping me teddy bear! ^_^)

Using these items with my finance apps featured from my previous blog made my finance management really effective. It’s an awesome combination with the finance apps I use!  (.^_^.)

And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed reading this post. It really feels good when your money is in order, right? How about you? How do you organize your cash/budget? I’m interested to know.

Where’d All My Money Go? (Part 3 of Organized-Me Series)

Let’s do some money talk.

As my mom always says, “Ang bilis maubos ng pera.” (Money gets used up quickly.) I couldn’t agree more. Ever got that feeling when you got your paycheck and just a few weeks after your money just went poof! With prices of commodities rising (especially gasoline and LPG), it feels like your cash just flies out of your hand.

That’s why maintaining a budget and tracking your expenses is very important. It’s what I do, with a little help from technology and applying my organizing skills.

Since I’m an Apple fan I use these 2 apps to monitor my monthly budget and accounts:

Note: Some of the pictures do not reflect my finances.

1. Cash Vault for iPhone/iTouch

(photos – taken from iTunes store)

This is my most used finance app, not only because it’s the most useful but because it’s my first finance app.

What I love about this app is that it accurately monitors and categorizes my expenses (Food, Apparel, Gas, Grocery, etc. see pictures), it’s also because I encode my expenses right away as soon as cash flows out.

It’s perfect for monitoring bank accounts, cash boxes, piggy banks, and wallets. Keeping tabs on remaining cash and expenses during out-of-town trips is a breeze when using Cash Vault, because I assign another wallet account for trips so my other petty cash won’t get mixed up with trip allowance.

Here’s a pic of the app in my iTouch:

Cash Vault is ideal for cash transactions only though. I’m using the full version ($2.99), but there’s also an available free version in the app store if you want to check it out and try it first before purchasing.

2. Money for iPhone/iPad

If you want an app that could help you keep track of your assets and liabilities and not just mere cash, then this one’s for you.

Money for iPhone or iPad helps me keep track of cash and other assets, like land, my perfume store, as well as liabilities, like credit card payables.  It subtracts my liabilities from my assets automatically so I always know how much my current net worth is.

Never miss due dates and other payment obligation deadlines again. This app has a built-in calendar specially designed for planned transactions and alerts for upcoming due dates for bills. Overdue (red), planned (blue), and paid (green) transactions have their own color code so you can distinguish the transactions from each other easily.

Another useful feature of the Money app is that it has its own budget tracker and colorful reports presentations.

Lost your files accidentally? Don’t fret. Money has a backup feature so just retrieve your files from the backup section of the app. Plus, you can also synchronize your data from one device to another either by iCloud or Bluetooth. In the picture below I’m syncing my iTouch and iPad using bluetooth:

Here’s a pic of the Money app in my iPad:

It is safe to say that this is an all-in-one finance app.

Full version price is $9.99, but there is also a free version if you want to try first before purchasing. It’s also available for Android users. You can check it out at http://www.ibearmoney.com

Because of these 2 apps I know where every centavo of my money is saved or spent. I can perfectly recall where I put my money and I now have a good budgeting strategy. I review the figures at the end of the week and every end of the month and so far I’m pleased with the results. See? If you can be organized with your stuff, you can also be organized with your finances! (.^_^.)

ORGAniced Bag (Part 2 of Organized-Me Series)

Hi readers! We’re now on part 2 of my Organized-Me Series! In the first part of the series I shared about how I organize my cables and cords. Now I’ll tell you how I keep the things in my bag clutter free.

Since my workplace/store is a bit far from home, I tend to carry a lot of stuff with me – you name it – gadgets, money, keys, stylus, documents, calculator, make up kit, organizer, pens, paper, shades, scarf, perfume, Swiss knife, etc. You never know what you’ll need later so I tend to over pack my bag. Going back home during your office hours just to get an item is not only a waste of money; it’s a waste of time too.

So here’s the tricky part: how do you fit all those stuff in your bag? I’m not the type who gets away with bringing a huge one coz I’m not tall (I’ll look like a bag lady if I do).  Not only do you have to fit all those items inside, it has to be neatly placed too. Fail to do so and you’ll be digging like a dog every time you need to fish an item out of your bag.

I used to resort to pouches but they tend to bulk up my bag, so instead I resorted to bag organizers.

Here’s how my bag looks like with my bag organizer in it:

Ang ayos noh? I love how my Organice bag organizer keeps my stuff neat and properly placed in my bag. See how this organizing tool helps maximize storage space? And, transferring things is just a breeze thanks to this organizer…no more fretting about leaving needed things behind.

So here’s how I arrange my essentials in the organizer:

– I put my gadgets (pocket wifi, Nokia E72, and iTouch 4G) in the outer pockets

– My pressed powders (Loreal True Match and Johnson shine-free face powder), comb, and Green Cross alcohol are designated in the other outer pockets (see below pics)

I also put a smaller bag organizer inside the big bag organizer in order to place my small items properly. It also comes in handy when I use smaller bags so my things are still organized.

Inside the small bag organizer:

– Travalo Excel (contains Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker edt)

– Nokia bluetooth headset

– lip essentials (Triple Chocolate Mint lip gloss, Loreal lipstick, and Nivea lip balm)

Inside the small bag organizer (other side):

– Maybelline blush on

– Victorinox Swiss Card (very handy for ladies!)

– Clean & Clear Oil Control Film

There are smaller pockets in the organizer’s side that I use to keep my pen, stylus, comb, and brush.

Want a bag organizer like mine? Just drop by my store, PocketScents. I have only limited stocks available, so hurry…while supplies last!

Thanks for reading my blog. Let’s be organized together! (.^_^.)

Tangle-free! (Part 1 of Organized – Me Series)

Welcome to Organized-Me blog series, a series of blogs about stuff I use (and love) that keep my room, workplace, and bags organized. People who are close to me know I don’t like clutter, so I always organize my stuff with help from a few items. So what are those items? Stay tuned…. (.^_^.)

Don’t you just love gadgets? Who doesn’t?

For busy people like me, gadgets are really a blessing, as they make my work easier. I’m not the type of person who owns only one gadget; it’s just not possible.

But several gadgets also means having more….CORDS!

Picture this: You need to get a charger/USB cable among your pile of wires and as you pull it out all the other wires cling to that one you need. So the next few minutes becomes a detangling war between you and your other cords. Happened to me a lot before. And don’t get me started when you go traveling with those wires….

Well not anymore!

I already bid tangled-cords scenarios goodbye since I used Rilakkuma Cord Winders and Leaf Tie Cable Organizers.

Rilakkuma Cord Winder (I use this one for my computer power cord)

The Rilakkuma is soooooo cute! Kikay. (.^_^.)

Leaf Tie Cable Organizer (keeps the speaker cords from tangling with the power cords and my feet at my office)

Thanks to these babies I never have to waste time detangling cords from each other before I pull them out of their respective boxes.

See how my cord storage boxes seem hassle-free?

I want you organized too, so grab your own Rilakkuma cord winder/Leaf cable ties and start organizing your gadget cables now! These wonders are available locally at my store PocketScents.

Let’s all be organized together! Haha! (.^_^.) Ciao

Adobe® Photoshop® Touch

Hello everyone! I’ve been so busy lately I wasn’t able to blog. So busy that I can’t even open my store. Darn. Well at least I’m not idle. Haha! Anywaaaaay…..back to the subject….

If you are a shutterbug with an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone, then this post is for you.

Natural (raw) pictures are nice, but there will always be instances when you need to do photo editing. And what is the most popular software for that? Abobe Photoshop!

iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone owners can now enjoy some of the features of the Adobe Photoshop thru Adobe Photoshop Touch. It’s not free, unfortunately. But at least it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, unlike the CS6, hahaha! And, these apps are a good stepping-stone if you want to use more complicated but feature-packed Adobe software in the future.

Here are some of my test shots:

Before:

After: (using Effects – Graphic Pen)

Before:

After: (using Effects – Pencil and Add Text, I decreased the opacity to lessen the pencil effect)

Before:

After: (You can make an item stand out in a picture by using Paint and increasing/decreasing saturation levels)

Before:

After: (Using Watercolor Paint, by the way this is my favorite photo out of the bunch)

Using the iPad is more ideal for this software because of its large screen. If you’re using a stylus – much better. Making delicate photo editing on the iPod Touch or iPhone may be more difficult.

It may be difficult to use at first, but with practice it’ll be easier especially if you’re already familiar with the buttons.

There are so many more things you can do with your photos using Adobe Photoshop Touch. I haven’t explored all its features, but hopefully I’ll master them in time, and I hope you do too.

Struggling with Photoshop Touch? Give Adobe Photoshop Express a try (I’ll be blogging about it too – soon), it’s less complicated than Touch.

Thank you for reading my post! (.^_^.)

Audrey

Nope. Audrey is not a person.

It’s a Louis Vuitton speedy 25 bag.

Yes I’m one of those people who assign names on their belongings, and no, I don’t name them all, that would be absurd. (.^_^.)

Why Audrey anyway? I purchased this bag because the birth of the speedy 25 is attributed to one of my favorite icon ladies of all time: Audrey Hepburn.

The smallest bag way back then was the speedy 30. Though Audrey Hepburn liked the style, she found it too big for her liking so in 1965 she asked Henri Louis Vuitton to make a smaller version of the speedy. Hence, the speedy 25 is born. The bag was linked to her name ever since.

Having a bag like Audrey Hepburn….yey! (speechless na, I dunno what happened, haha!)

A bag like this is a good investment because it increases in value. And because it is one of the iconic, classic it-bags (like Hermes Birkin and Chanel 2.55), it will never be out of style. What I really like about this bag is it’s really versatile, you can pair it with your casual wear or go formal with it. It’s also a good traveling tote because this small bag can actually pack more stuff than you think.

If you’re a lady looking for a classic bag then you really should consider getting one of these.

Well, I guess that’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed reading this.  Stay tuned for more posts, folks. Thanks for stopping by. (.^_^.)

Update: May 14, 2020

I already sold this bag because it’s too small for me.

I love my Travalo!

Ahoy perfume aficionados out there!

We perfume lovers want to smell good all the time, so we tend to re-spritz our fragrances when we’re away from home. The same applies when we travel, we always want to bring our favorite scents with us.

But what if we can’t bring our favorite perfumes with us due to reasons like airline restrictions, or because the whole bottle doesn’t fit in our bag or it’ll add unnecessary weight? Disappointing, right?

Thank goodness I discovered this:

Meet the latest addition to my kikay kit: my Travalo Excel Refillable Atomizer in light pink. It’s cute right? It looks just like a lipstick! Thanks to this cute little thing I can bring my favorite perfume (Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker) everywhere I go. By the way, it can hold up to 5 ml or 50 sprays. What’s amazing about Travalo atomizers is that you can fill it with perfume with no hassle at all. So how do you fill your Travalo? Here’s how:

I love the way my Travalo helps me economize my perfume. I know the ad says it can hold up to 50 sprays, but I think it can hold up to more than that. Or maybe I just think that way because I only press the spray pump halfway, I dunno. Haha! With this atomizer I also observed that most of my perfume when spritzed (full pump, not halfway ha) lands on my skin. There are other atomizers that disperse some (or most) of your perfume in the air, and I find that wasteful.  Hey, authentic perfumes are expensive, so we just wanna make every drop count, right? (.^_^.)

You’ll know when you’ll run out of perfume because the other side of the Travalo has a shatterproof clear window, so you can see how much perfume is left inside.

So what are you waiting for? Get your own Travalo! It’s available in malls, imported stores, or if you’re in Malaybalay City you can visit my store PocketScents and purchase one. I have available Travalo atomizers in Classic or Excel.

Stay tuned for more posts about my latest items or events. Thanks for stopping by. (.^_^.)

PocketScents

Want to buy your favorite perfume but a whole bottle is just too expensive?

Can’t buy more than one perfume because your budget can’t afford it?

Or is that 1 whole bottle of perfume adding weight to your already-heavy bag?

Well PocketScents has the solution for the aforementioned problems!

Now you can purchase your favorite perfumes in retail and in cute bottles so it’s made affordable and easy to carry anytime, anywhere!

PocketScents is a perfume refilling station located in Tabios Street, Brgy. 5, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Established last December 2009, it started out as a garage sale store selling used clothing, sports equipment, and bottles of perfumes. Now the store is selling perfumes in retail and one whole bottle (via order), shoes, accessories, clothes, and fashionable bags.

If you’re confused because you can’t decide what perfume to buy or you don’t know what type of perfume you want, don’t worry. I will personally assist you and help you decide. Since customer satisfaction is one of my priorities, I make sure that I provide testers so customers can determine whether a perfume suits them or not.

Just because a perfume smells nice on one person doesn’t mean it will smell the same on you. Different people have different body chemistries so it’s important to test the perfume on the skin before buying it. This is why I let customers try the perfume before buying – so they can really make sure they are buying a perfume that they really want and it’ll make them smell great! No blind purchases.

If you are looking for a store that sells authentic perfumes in retail come visit my store at DJM Arcade, Tabios Street, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. My store is open from Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. You could also visit and like my page on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/PocketScents/192679710745896).

Visit this site or my facebook page to keep updated on promos, schedules, and new items! Thanks for reading! (.^_^.)
